Research Interests

Dr. Pooya Hamdi is currently a Senior Scientist at RWTH Aachen University. His research focuses on rock mechanics, rock engineering design and numerical modeling applied to various areas including rock slope and landslide analysis, underground excavation and block caving. He has carried out research on application of Discrete Fracture Network to slope stability analysis and rock mass characterization. Recently, he has expanded his research interests on application of 3D-printed synthetic rock mass as an analogue to better understand the behaviour of geomaterials. Before joining RWTH in 2018, Pooya worked at Golder Associate in Vancouver as Rock Mechanics Specialist for almost four years.
